Take a side journey to Gimlet Creek. Lakes? Sure, Lake Wopalanne is in the vicinity. Camping at Barks Plantation is always a good experience, and good hiking is available along the Johnson Natural Area Backpack Trail. Camping is available at Whippoorwill Lake, and get your heart pumping on the splendid whitewater of Castor River. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place!       The Ozarks rules! A nice location to pop by in the vicinity of Lake Woaplanne is Gravelton Hollow, and there are other sites here than Lake Woaplanne, for example McKelvey Dam. This lake is so wonderful. There's fine hiking along the Lost Creek Nature Trail. Lake Woaplanne gets a lot of water; May is when you get the most rain here; January is the month with the least moisture. So many fun things to do at Lake Woaplanne, so little time. Why not stop by                  Britton Lake Dam since you're here, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend St. Francis River. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the Ozarks has to offer.
