    The beauty of Howell Lake is reason enough to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Potosi Super 8 Motel is a tremendous place to spend a night or two, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Compton Branch. Camping at Hazel Creek Campground is always a splendid experience, and going for a hike along the Trace Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. During the months of summer highs here at Howell  
   Lake reach the 80's, and the nighttime is quite colder of course, ordinarily in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Howell Lake temperatures fall to the 10's.
If you have a thing about the outdoors, you'll go for Howell Lake. If the weather is great here at Howell Lake, you can go for a hike along the Berryman Trail, and Howell Mine Dam has great water scenery. Get drenched paddling
 
               on Black River - East Fork, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Palmer Lake. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Ozarks. Camping is available at Wild Boar Ridge Campground. Lakes? Sure, Parole Lake is close at hand.

Good luck, I have been fishing here for years and I have yet to see anyone but me and a few buddies catch anything. Most of the people that hang out here are a bucnch drunks and are here to party. If you take your time and learn the lake you can catch alot of bass and as many redear you can eat. Just stay away from the local drunks....

STOP the draining of our lake! there are animals dieing because of it! there was also more money spent here in north dakota when the lake was a lot fuller. come look and see what damage your stupid missouri is costing at the lake! i go there every year and more and more water is gone for what? notheing! now that there is not a lot of water left people have to find a a different place to go. they cant even keep there boats at fort stevenson because it is BONE DRY! missouri, you need to close down your falls because there is more money made here and it not fair that a NATIONAL PARK Can Not survive because of you!! there should be no reason why a NAtional park should close. also the lake was here before your stupid idea even came around. there for it is our right to protect what we have:our future,homes, and last but not least, our lake and population....
