    If you are in this part of Missouri make sure to pay a visit to Higbee Lake. There's always Willer Lake Dam to visit close to Higbee Lake, and since you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Keokuk-Fort Madison. Hickory Haven Campground is a glorious local campground, and paddling on Cedar Creek is so much fun. At Higbee Lake through the summer highs are in the 80's. Summer night lows sink down to the 60's. Through the winter highs are regularly  
   in the 30's, and night lows through the winter for Higbee Lake tend to be in the 10's.
From a rainfall point of view Higbee Lake is a pretty common location; July is when you get the most rain here; February on the other hand is the driest. Now, you may assume that's lots but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here at Higbee Lake. Camp Hickory Haven is a fine campground nearby, and Keokuk Super 8 Motel is a great location to get some rest. While you're
 
               here at Higbee Lake, you could also stop by striking Schlotter Lake; after a long day outdoors Fairfield Inn By Marriott Keokuk is a good place to spend a night or two.
This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is magnificent on Bear Creek; Buck-Doe Run Watershed Lake Number 25 is a nearby lake that you could visit.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
