If you need a site to stay Fairfield Inn Keokuk is a great choice, and at Higbee Lake you always meet someone from Keokuk-Fort Madison. High temperatures at Higbee Lake during the days of summer are in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 60's. All through the winter highs are frequently in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Higbee Lake temperatures sink to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. There

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
