In Missouri there are many beautiful lakes, Herny Lake is one of them. This lake is so wonderful. There are plenty of folks from Jefferson City here at Herny Lake, and if you need a spot to stay Regency Hotel Downtown is a glorious choice. Not far from Herny Lake you obtain some splendid water scenery at Herny Dam, and playing golf is lots of fun at Eagle Knoll Golf Club. Hinkson Creek is a nice whitewater spot near Herny Lake, and if you came to camp Cooper's Landing Campground is a great place to do that. away. You could also go to Peterson Lake while you're here at Herny Lake; it's close by. At Herny Lake through the summer months highs are in the 80's, and the overnight is somewhat colder of course, generally in the 60's. Daytime
highs during the winter are in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Herny Lake. Herny Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Binder Park is a great local campground, and dry warm beds await you at Courtyard by Marriott Columbia Missouri.

 | 10 miles away There is a gage at Providence Rd, you can check water levels at this link: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv/?site_no=06910230&agency_cd=USGS My unladen solo canoe can scoot by at 30cfs, any less than that and I'm dragging. ...As of 6/18/2008, there is nowhere near enough water in the stream at the put-in (or much of the rest of the stream) for any kind of paddle-craft....This is a fun, after work run when the water is moving. There are no defined rapids, although there are several modest playspots: 1)S-Turn, near the back of the Walmart site, and 2) The Ultimate Surfing Wave which is downstream from the Old 63 bridge. Hazards include two low water crossings in the Stephens Golf Course. Portage is highly recommended at high water as the crossings act as low head dams. Water quality in the Spring can be an issue and several boaters in years past have contracted leptosporosis (aka lepto) from involuntarily ingesting the water. Mostly the Hink' is a fun float on moving water with enough wave action and eddys to keep things interesting. Suitable for canoes and kayaks. ... |
