What a nice lake Harke Lake is. Summertime highs at Harke Lake generally tend to be in the 90's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Harke Lake during the wintertime commonly descend into the 10's. Yep, outdoors entertaining things truly is plentiful here in the Ozarks. Going for a hike on the Paddy Creek Trail is always a great adventure. There's so much to

| | do here at Harke Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Cave Eddy Campground is a wonderful place for that. This is no site for people who don’t like to have a good time. Dry warm beds await you at St. Robert-Days Inn Waynesville/Ft. Leonard Wood; you'll come across a wonderful lake called Dairy Pond.

is a great place to do that. The Big Piney National Scenic Trail is a perfect hiking trail near Harke Lake; a lovely lake like Slabtown Lake is a pleasant site to stop by. Very great water scenery is available at Harke Lake Dam in
the vicinity of Harke Lake, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Montis Inn is a fine place to spend a night or two.
If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Ozarks. You're sure to bump into
some cheerful folks from Rolla here. Harke Lake is a beautiful lake in the Ozarks. Harke Lake mostly gets much rain; May is when you get the most rain here; January on the other hand is the driest.

... From the top, you will not know that you are on a bridge. From the bottom it looks like a large, deep cave through which light doesn't travel because of a bend in the tunnel. Follow the trail around the hill and you will find the other opening. Next time I will bring a flashlight so that I can explore a little.
The trails are popular with horseback riders and are as wide as sidewalks most of the time. In most places and the footing is good. A small percentage of the trail is made up of loose rock that can be bad for a weak ankle.
My only complaint is that the map I have is not accurate and the markers on the trees don't lend much confidence. Today I wound up walking an extra two hours because of a wrong turn. Looking at the Internet maps, I still can't find the path I was walking or the fenced meadows. In one spot the trail went through a chained gate. I didn't know if I would be trespassing so I turned right, followed a path around the field and found myself on some dirt road that is not marked.
