A visit to Ginn Lake is always a good idea. A magnificent place to camp here at Ginn Lake is Crooked Creek Campground, and if you need a location to stay Super 8 Columbia/Lake Of The Woods is a wonderful choice. Don't leave Ginn Lake without first checking out Mill Site Bluff, and the smiling folks of Jefferson City like to hang out nearby. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Hinkson Creek; camping at Pine Grove Village MHP is always a good experience. You just

rains the most, and the driest month of the year is January. For the period of the long summer days at Ginn Lake temperatures are frequently in the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Highs all through the winter
are generally in the 30's while Ginn Lake nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. A lake close by is Little Dixie Lake, and Ginn Lake Dam is scenic.

 | 10 miles away There is a gage at Providence Rd, you can check water levels at this link: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv/?site_no=06910230&agency_cd=USGS My unladen solo canoe can scoot by at 30cfs, any less than that and I'm dragging. ...As of 6/18/2008, there is nowhere near enough water in the stream at the put-in (or much of the rest of the stream) for any kind of paddle-craft....This is a fun, after work run when the water is moving. There are no defined rapids, although there are several modest playspots: 1)S-Turn, near the back of the Walmart site, and 2) The Ultimate Surfing Wave which is downstream from the Old 63 bridge. Hazards include two low water crossings in the Stephens Golf Course. Portage is highly recommended at high water as the crossings act as low head dams. Water quality in the Spring can be an issue and several boaters in years past have contracted leptosporosis (aka lepto) from involuntarily ingesting the water. Mostly the Hink' is a fun float on moving water with enough wave action and eddys to keep things interesting. Suitable for canoes and kayaks. ... |
