Swamps like Potter Slough are fun to visit, and there is a great hiking trail close by called the Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge Habitat Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Carrollton; if you've had enough of Dean Lake, Shull Lake is close by. From a rain point of view Dean Lake is a relatively normal site; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.

Summer at Dean Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's while night lows are mostly in the 60's.
