Davis Lake is always a pleasure to visit. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Davis Lake has to offer, you can camp at Trail of Tears State Park, and lakes are such calm spots, why not stop by Ross Lake. Summer at Davis Lake comes with high temperatures in the 90's while night lows are typically in the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Davis Lake temperatures

Trot Trail. No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a magnificent time here at Davis Lake. If you need a place to stay Drury Suites Cape Girardeau is a great choice; the smiling folks of Sikeston like to hang out nearby.

Pine Hills Campground
 | 18 miles away Pine Hills Campground is the place to go when exploring the Shawnee National Forest. Finding the campground can be difficult, but easy if you have a topographic atlas. It is located adjacent to Illinois largest wilderness complex, nothing significant on a grand scale, but a world away from the madness of Chicago at the opposite end of the state. It is between ILL routes 3 and 127 between Grand Tower and Trail of Tears state forest. I'm sorry to say I cannot share the best site in the campsround, but will probably find it yourself without much effort. It is at the back of the loop adjacent to the stream. I basically gave it away, but good hunting still! Actually, it can be difficult to find, but well worth the solitude. Good wildlife viewing in the area, especially near the LaRue Swamp area- many hawks can be seen in this perennial spring fed wetland. It is the Mississippi River Valley in a natural state- a remnant of it, at least. ... |
