This lake is so wonderful. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Ozarks. Near Dairy Pond you come across a golf course called Piney Valley Golf Course, and if you've had enough of Dairy Pond, Harke Lake is close by. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Miller Spring, and if you need a place to stay Candlewood Suites St. Robert is a great choice. This lake is so wonderful. Rich's Last Resort is a fine campground nearby, and why not take

| | a refreshing hike along the Big Piney Trail. Dairy Pond gets lots of water; most of the rain falls all through May; the driest month is January. So many fun things to do in the Ozarks, not sufficient time. People from Fort Leonard Wood love to come to Dairy Pond, obviously you could also stop by Slabtown Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. Dairy Pond is located in the Ozarks. During the long summer days highs here at Dairy Pond get into the 90's. | |

Summer night lows dip down to the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's, and overnight lows during the wintertime for Dairy Pond tend to be in the 10's. Dairy Pond is a good site to visit for more than one day, Wilderness
Ridge Resort is a good site to camp nearby, and the Big Piney National Scenic Trail offers hiking at its best. If only every place had this much outdoors cool things, what a great planet it would be. A glorious close by hotel is Holiday Inn Express ST. ROBERT/FT. LEONARDWOOD; do take a hike on the Paddy Creek Trail.

Big Piney National Scenic Trail

Kaintuck Trail
 | 14 miles away ...top, you will not know that you are on a bridge. From the bottom it looks like a large, deep cave through which light doesn't travel because of a bend in the tunnel. Follow the trail around the hill and you will find the other opening. Next time I will bring a flashlight so that I can explore a little.
The trails are popular with horseback riders and are as wide as sidewalks most of the time. In most places and the footing is good. A small percentage of the trail is made up of loose rock that can be bad for a weak ankle.
My only complaint is that the map I have is not accurate and the markers on the trees don't lend much confidence. Today I wound up walking an extra two hours because of a wrong turn. Looking at the Internet maps, I still can't find the path I was walking or the fenced meadows. In one spot the trail went through a chained gate. I didn't know if I would be trespassing so I turned right, followed a path around the field and found myself on some dirt road that is not marked.
