The beauty of Chain of Lakes is reason enough to stop by. Don't leave Chain of Lakes without first going for a hike along the Crane Lake Trail, and Big Creek is a wonderful whitewater spot close by. And that's not everything you can do here in the Ozarks. This lake is so wonderful. The scenery at Shy Lake Dam close to Chain of Lakes is charming, and if you would like a little side visit, try Des Acre Hollow.

wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows all through the winter for Chain of Lakes tend to be in the 10's. So much exciting stuff in the Ozarks, just remarkable. Ozark National Scenic River is a magnificent place in the neighborhood of Chain of Lakes, and the Taum Sauk Trail offers hiking at its best.
