Clearwater Lake is a lake in the neighborhood, and Black River is a pleasant whitewater spot nearby. Why not go to close by Cedar Bay while you're here at Carter Lake, and Ozark National Scenic River is a great local destination. Just can't get enough of the Ozarks. Evans Hollow is near Carter Lake and is without doubt a great location to stop at, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always       pop by nearby Clearwater Lake. Carter Lake sees pretty high levels of rain; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. On a good day at Carter Lake you can take a hike along the Crane Lake Trail, and Carter Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Sam A Baker State Park is a fine local campground. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. In                  the event that you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Big Creek, and the Johnson Natural Area Backpack Trail is a good hiking trail nearby. The Ozarks scenery is always beautiful. And if that's not enough there's loads more fun things to do in the Ozarks. If you came to camp Big Creek RV Park is a wonderful site to do that. During the days of summer here at Carter Lake, high temperatures mostly get into the 90's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's.
