     It's a great idea to have a look at Dickerson Creek, it's close to Binder Lake; after a long day outdoors Comfort Suites Jefferson City is a pleasant place to spend a night or two. If you came for an overnight stay Binder Park is a nice place to camp; there are glorious places to discover along the Cedar Creek Hiking Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Cooper's Landing Campground is a tremendous local campground; Hampton Inn Capital Mall is a glorious site to  
   get some rest. Summer at Binder Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. For the period of the wintertime highs are frequently in the 30's, and overnight lows at Binder Lake during the winter frequently fall into the 10's.
In the event that you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Hinkson Creek. There's just no way someone can
 
               get bored here at Binder Lake. Do check out Lake Claradean near Binder Lake, it's a striking lake; Binder Lake Dam is a beautiful place. A beautiful lake like Woodward Lake in the vicinity of Binder Lake is a great place to stop at, and this is a popular place for people from Jefferson City.
The high level of rainfall makes Binder Lake a reasonably wet site; throughout May this area sees the most rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month.

Let's get some data on Cedar Creek.  I just canoed it on 10/10/09,  and it was a hell of a fun ride....There is a gage at Providence Rd, you can check water levels at this link: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv/?site_no=06910230&agency_cd=USGS My unladen solo canoe can scoot by at 30cfs, any less than that and I'm dragging. ...As of 6/18/2008, there is nowhere near enough water in the stream at the put-in (or much of the rest of the stream) for any kind of paddle-craft....This is a fun, after work run when the water is moving. There are no defined rapids, although there are several modest playspots: 1)S-Turn, near the back of the Walmart site, and 2) The Ultimate Surfing Wave which is downstream from the Old 63 bridge. Hazards include two low water crossings in the Stephens Golf Course. Portage is highly recommended at high water as the crossings act as low head dams. Water quality in the Spring can be an issue and several boaters in years past have contracted leptosporosis (aka lepto) from involuntarily ingesting the water. Mostly the Hink' is a fun float on moving water with enough wave action and eddys to keep things interesting. Suitable for canoes and kayaks. ...
