You'll need more than a day to look at everything Bear Creek Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Injun Joe Campground, and needless to say, this is a good vicinity for people who like lakes, McKay Lake is a lake in the neighborhood. Near Bear Creek Reservoir you locate Rickey Hollow which is a great place to check out, and dry warm beds await you at Days Inn - Hannibal. This lake is so wonderful. | | paddling on North River, and why not a little side spree to Crooked Creek. Stay the night at Bayview Camper's Park, and Bear Creek Reservoir is a location with many visitors from Hannibal. Fall Creek is a nice whitewater spot near Bear Creek Reservoir, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out close by Charles Ransdell Lake.  | 14 miles away 1 PHOTO In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out.
