Baxter Ponds is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Camp Hickory Haven is a magnificent local campground, and you'll find a scenic lake called Baxter Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Locust Lane Nature Trail. There's so much to do here at Baxter Ponds that you need to camp here for a while, Hickory       Haven Campground is a magnificent site for that. Do pop by Baxter Lake Dam while you're here at Baxter Ponds, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Cedar Creek. For the period of the months of summer at Baxter Ponds temperatures are usually in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. During the winter the highs are frequently in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Baxter Ponds. After a long                  day outdoors Fairfield Inn Keokuk is a wonderful place to spend a night or two; if you come at the right time of year, Bear Creek offers some brilliant whitewater.
