in the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are regularly in the 10's, and overnight lows at Zoo Lake during the winter commonly dip into the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Take
a side visit to North Branch Cascade River, and if you've had enough of Zoo Lake, Eagle Lake is nearby. Zoo Lake is a good site of typical rain; August is the month that gets the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.

 | Echo is a nice lake to stop and drop a line when in the Schroeder tofte area. It is just up the road from Nine mile lake campground and has an easy to catch supply of small trout. Two Island Lake Campground
 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
