Go to Zoo Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. The annual rainfall here at Zoo Lake is about average; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest of the months is February. Eagle Lake is a nice lake in the neighborhood of Zoo Lake, and you can spot Eagle Mountain from Zoo Lake. Lakes are such calm places, why not explore Shrike Lake near Zoo Lake, and there is a great hiking trail nearby called the North Shore State Trail. Whohoo, so many exciting things in one place! nearby loves skiing at Lutsen. High temperatures at Zoo Lake through the long summer days are in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are mostly in the 10's while Zoo
Lake nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Cascade River Campground is a glorious place to do that, and going for a hike on the Height of Land Portage is always a magnificent adventure.

 | Echo is a nice lake to stop and drop a line when in the Schroeder tofte area. It is just up the road from Nine mile lake campground and has an easy to catch supply of small trout. Two Island Lake Campground
 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
