Lake Rachel
Rachel is a nice little sping-fed lake. Great water clarity (10 feet or so) and minimal boat traffic, so it's really peaceful and serene out there. You'll find excellent northern fishing - very abundant. Walleyes are hard to come by, but every once in a while you'll get one. The public access is tough to use - not a lot of space to turn around or to park. The shoreline is heavily wooded and lightly to moderately developed. It doesn't really feel like a west-central MN lake...feels more ''up north''. Only a handful of people live out there full-time. Most are cabins that get weekend use. No resorts, although there used to be one on ''the island''. This lake rose several feet in the 80s due to heavy rains and so there are a few stands of flooded timber, but actually that helps provide structure for fish and their spawning. Anyway, if you're looking for peace and quiet, check out Lake Rachel. It's Douglas County's best kept secret....

Lobster Lake
11 miles away My wife and I are just starting to 'eyeball' Lobste Lake for a possible summer get away spot. More input if/as we get closer....
Lake Latoka
13 miles away its the worst lake ever...
Andes Tower Hill
14 miles away I had a great time when I was at Andes Tower Hill. The slopes were fun and fast. Although I thought the prices were a little to high. It is still a great place for a family to have a day of fun....
Long Lake
17 miles away Central Minnesota's Rough Fish Factory, This lake is overrun with Carp & Buffalo Fish, it appears the DNR is trying to manage this lake with walleye stocking to curb the rough fish population...NOT WORKING...of course...the weeds are all gone and the bottom is always stirred up, very poor water quality. DNR Report states ''Boom or Bust fishing lake''. This basin is more bust than boom. Lake Shore land owners should rally and get the state to clean it up..Local folks tell me this used to be a Duck factory. The DNR should reconsider there management plan on this lake and return it to the shallow CLEAN basin it was in the 60's & 70's.....There are better fishing lakes than this in the county....
