After a long day outdoors Eagle Ridge Resort at Lutsen Mountains is a great place to spend a night or two, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Lutsen is quite near. Take a hike on the Rib Lake Trail; hiking is a popular thing to do around Whisker Lake; Height of Land Portage is a great local trail. If you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cascade River; why not take a refreshing hike along the South Lake Portage.

| | Whisker Lake gets a normal amount of annual rain; through the month of August you get the most rain around here, and February meanwhile is the driest month. So much entertaining stuff to do here at Whisker Lake, too splendid to be true. Frances Bay is in the neighborhood and always tremendous to visit, and Cascade River is a pleasant whitewater spot nearby. Jack Lodge is a splendid site to camp nearby; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out close by West Pope Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Gunflint Pines is a splendid local campground. Lakes are great; Saucer Lake is a lake that's in the neighborhood of Whisker Lake. This lake is so wonderful.

Two Island Lake Campground
 | 14 miles away I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
