Why not take a refreshing hike along the North Shore State Trail, and if you need a place to stay Caribou Highlands Lodge is a wonderful choice. During the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. Poplar River Campground is a brilliant spot to do that. This lake is so wonderful. You can never get enough of the great skiing at Lutsen. A normal amount of rainfall falls here at Ward Lake; August is the wettest month with most
rain; February is when it's the driest. So many enjoyable things to do here at Ward Lake, too magnificent to be true. There's so much to do here at Ward Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Cascade River Campground is a tremendous site for that; don't forget to take a magnificent little visit to Murmur Creek.

Two Island Lake Campground
 | 14 miles away I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
