Upper Pauness Lake is a good location of typical rain; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain; February on the other hand is the driest. Devils Cascade is a great local attraction, and after a long day outdoors Pine Ridge Motel is a splendid spot to spend a night or two. Near Upper Pauness Lake you hit upon the Canfield Portage which is a magnificent hiking trail, and       you can run the rapids of Vermilion River. If you want a pleasant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Upper Pauness Lake. Upper Pauness Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Lake Jeanette Campground is a great local campground; the Beatty Portage is a brilliant hiking trail close by. This lake is so wonderful. There is a great hiking trail close to Upper Pauness Lake called the Echo Trail, and if you need a place to stay Tower Cafe & Hotel                  is a brilliant choice. Camping at Sioux River Campground is always a delightful experience. Lakes are nice; Lower Pauness Lake is a lake that's in the neighborhood of Upper Pauness Lake. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Upper Pauness Lake. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's.
