Upper Menton Lake
 | My Father, Albert Menton and His Brother Eb were the original homesteaders of ''Upper & Lower* Menton lakes in the early 1900;s I have been told. I am the seventh child of Albrty Menton. Our Mother Florence died in 1918 and we were put in the Childrens Home Soc. In Minneapolis and then adopted out. We had a family reunion in 1972 in Remer. Ref; Minneapolis Tribune'' July 5th or 6 1972. I am now 91 years and living in Grants Pass Oregon. Thank you for keeping the ''Menton'' Name alive.... |
Mabel Lake Campground

It is close enough to Longville˙ and Remer that you can run in for ice and supplies as needed. One small hint that I will pass on is that you might want to stop in Longville or Hackensack to buy your˙ firewood as the campground does not have any for sale.Mabel Lake campground is not on a campsite reservation system but we have never had a problem finding a site here. We discovered this campground as a result of finding one of the more popular Leech Lake campgrounds full. Once we found Mabel Lake, we never bothered with the other campgrounds in the area again. Mabel Lake is rustic so those seeking hook-ups, flush toilets, and running water best move on to the more crowded campgrounds on Leech Lake and leave u... |
