Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at close by Goche Lake; Bowstring State Forest is worth going to. There is a pleasant hiking trail close to Tamarack Lake called the South Highbanks Trail System. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Tamarack Lake has to offer, you can camp at Tamarack Campground. Yep, outdoors exciting things to do are truly plentiful here at Tamarack Lake. Going for a hike on the Simpson Creek Trail System is always a good adventure, and not far from Tamarack Lake you'll locate Demro Lake which is a picturesque lake. This lake is so wonderful. There are tremendous spots to look at along the Cutfoot Sioux National Recreation Trail. and Picnic Area is a glorious location for that. The amount of precipitation that falls at Tamarack Lake is close to the national average; June is when you get the most rain here while February is mostly the driest month. Summer
brings highs in the 80's to Tamarack Lake. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Tamarack Lake.

Mabel Lake Campground
 | 17 miles away ...Minnesota campgrounds and we stay here several times each summer. We love that it is right on a lake and that many of the sites have their own little beach. The campground is quiet and the sites˙ are screened from one another for privacy. I hate to even post a review out of the fear that our favorite camping secret will become everyone's camping favorite. It is close enough to Longville˙ and Remer that you can run in for ice and supplies as needed. One small hint that I will pass on is that you might want to stop in Longville or Hackensack to buy your˙ firewood as the campground does not have any for sale.Mabel Lake campground is not on a campsite reservation system but we have never had a problem finding a site here. We discovered this campground as a result of finding one of the more popular Leech Lake campgrounds full. Once we found Mabel Lake, we never bothered with the other campgrounds in the area again. Mabel Lake is rustic so those seeking hook-ups, flush toilets, and running water best move on to the more crowded campgrounds on Leech Lake and leave us to our own peaceful lak... |
