Going for a hike on the South Lake Portage is always a delightful adventure, and nearby you'll locate a wooded neighborhood called Pat Bayle State Forest. Near Swamp Lake you come across the Height of Land Portage which is a fine hiking trail, and why not camp at Cascade River Campground since you're here at Swamp Lake. All through the warmest time of the year at Swamp Lake highs are ordinarily in the 70's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's; night lows in the-10's for Swamp Lake. | |

If you came for an overnight stay Devil Lake Campground is a delightful site to camp.
Swamp Lake is a good place of normal rain; August is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
So much cool stuff in the vicinity of Swamp Lake, just remarkable. The North Shore State Trail is a nice hiking trail near Swamp Lake, and a great close by hotel is Super 8 Motel - Grand Marais.
