Walleyes bite like crazy from ice out until the middle of june. Slows down July and August then picks up in Sept.Strand lake is a dark water but very clean lake, Fish them all day long.
Strand Lake is one of the many hidden gems of the South St. Louis County area. Fishing, recreation, and wild life sightings are just a few of the enjoyments of being on the Lake!

Lakes are such calm locations, why not take a look at Schisler Lake near Strand Lake; Strand Lake is not far at all from Duluth. Through the summer months at Strand Lake temperatures are typically in the 70's while night lows are commonly in the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 10's, and night lows at Strand Lake through the winter mostly drop into the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff near Strand Lake. You'll hit upon a pretty lake called Lily Lake near Strand Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Eveleth, and if you come at the right time of year, St. Louis River offers some wonderful whitewater. There are some nice whitewater spots on Cloquet River, and you can stay the night at Cloquet River Inn.

The river is at least 100 miles long. I've paddled from Katherine Lake to the St. Louis River and there is plenty of river to paddle besides the section from US 53 to US 2. The top section, from Katherine Lake to Lake Co #2 is an especially wild ride, and I've only done it once, but the drop is incredible, sometimes like a logging flume.... |

We are always listed as a resort with cabin rentals. our 7 site seasonal campground that has not had an opening for several years, so it is never listed under campgrounds.
