Walleyes bite like crazy from ice out until the middle of june. Slows down July and August then picks up in Sept.Strand lake is a dark water but very clean lake, Fish them all day long.
Strand Lake is one of the many hidden gems of the South St. Louis County area. Fishing, recreation, and wild life sightings are just a few of the enjoyments of being on the Lake!

Strand Lake is a lake worth visiting. A tremendous location for whitewater paddling near Strand Lake is Cloquet River, and dry warm beds await you at Eveleth Super 8 Motel. You'll meet a lot of people from Duluth here, and if you came for an overnight stay Cloquet River Inn is a perfect place to camp. Summertime highs at Strand Lake typically tend to be in the 70's while night lows are typically in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 10's,

It is very dry here at Strand Lake typically; June is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you need a spot to stay Budget Host Virginia is a splendid choice, and do explore Schisler Lake, it's a stunning lake. Whohoo, so many entertaining things in one place! Strand Lake is peerless! Camping is available at Ico Campground.

This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of St. Louis River in close proximity to Strand Lake, and if you're here, you could also pop by wonderful Lily Lake.

The river is at least 100 miles long. I've paddled from Katherine Lake to the St. Louis River and there is plenty of river to paddle besides the section from US 53 to US 2. The top section, from Katherine Lake to Lake Co #2 is an especially wild ride, and I've only done it once, but the drop is incredible, sometimes like a logging flume.... |

We are always listed as a resort with cabin rentals. our 7 site seasonal campground that has not had an opening for several years, so it is never listed under campgrounds.
