Good hiking is available along the South Lake Portage, and a pleasant place for whitewater paddling is Cascade River. Go for a hike on the Stairway Portage. So many amusing things to do here at Squint Lake, too good to be true. Gateway-hungry Jack Lodge is a wonderful campground nearby; in the event that you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Devil Track River. | | Lake is a reasonably normal location; August is the month that gets the most rain, and February is when it's the driest.
For the period of the summertime months, highs generally are in the 70's at Squint Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 10's while Squint Lake nighttime low temperatures all through the winter are in the-10's. Campground. Lace Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at; if you need a spot to stay Best Western Superior Inn & Suites is a good choice.
This lake is so wonderful. There's fine hiking along the Long Portage; dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Grand Marais.

Two Island Lake Campground
 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |

Echo is a nice lake to stop and drop a line when in the Schroeder tofte area. It is just up the road from Nine mile lake campground and has an easy to catch supply of small trout.
