A lake nearby is Stony Lake; Shumway Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Big Sandy Camp is a nice local campground. A typical amount of rain falls here at Shumway Lake; June is the wettest month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest. For the period of the warm months at Shumway Lake highs are usually in the 80's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 50's. For the duration of the winter       highs are generally in the 10's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Shumway Lake temperatures fall to the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Country Inn By Carlson Grand Rapids is a great place to get some rest; nearby you locate the Headboom Logging Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail.
