What a nice lake Shrike Lake is. So many amusing things to do here at Shrike Lake, too good to be true. If you need a spot to stay Super 8 Motel - Grand Marais is a great choice; why not take a little spree to Hand Creek since you're here. This lake is so wonderful. Shrike Lake is a nice place to visit for more than one day, Devil Lake Campground is a nice place to camp nearby. Skiing at Lutsen is one of those things you just ought to do, and you'll locate a beautiful

Here at Shrike Lake you can observe Eagle Mountain; going for a hike along the Height of Land Portage will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. Get your heart pumping on the pleasant whitewater of Cascade River, and hiking along the North Shore State Trail is tremendous fun. This lake is so wonderful. Cascade River Campground is a perfect local campground; dry warm beds await you at Caribou Highlands Lodge.

Goose Lake near Shrike Lake, it's a striking lake, and if the weather is fine, you can go for a hike along the South Lake Portage. For the duration of the months of summer here at Shrike Lake, high temperatures usually get into the
70's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 10's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Shrike Lake. Shrike Lake is a good place of normal rain; the month with most of the rain is August, and February on the other hand is the driest.

 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
