If you're here at Shadow Lake, do take a trip to James Bay, and Lutsen has pleasant slopes and a friendly staff. Shadow Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Gunflint Pines is a brilliant local campground, and going for a hike on the Gneiss Trail is always a brilliant adventure. Summertime highs at Shadow Lake typically tend to be in the 70's. For the period of the dark       hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 10's with temperatures at Shadow Lake dipping down into the-10's during winter nights. A common amount of rain falls here at Shadow Lake; the month with most of the rain is August, and February on the other hand is the driest. Go for a hike on the Gneiss Lake Portage, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Horsetail Rapids. So much enjoyable stuff close                  to Shadow Lake, just mind-boggling. There is a great hiking trail in close proximity to Shadow Lake called the Maraboeuf Lake Portage, and obviously Granite River flows through this area. This lake is so wonderful.
