Second Lake is a lake worth visiting. If you need a place to stay Super 8 Motel Cloquet is a perfect choice; St. Louis River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby. All the outdoors entertaining stuff in the neighborhood of Second Lake will keep you coming back time and again. A golf course near Second Lake is Black Bear Golf Course, and you can stay the night at K O A Kampgrounds. Spirit Mountain is a fine local ski area.

Second Lake gets a normal amount of yearly precipitation; through June this area sees the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Third Lake is nearby, and after a long day outdoors Americinn - Cloquet, Mn is a great place to spend a night or two.

Cloquet River
| The river is at least 100 miles long. I've paddled from Katherine Lake to the St. Louis River and there is plenty of river to paddle besides the section from US 53 to US 2. The top section, from Katherine Lake to Lake Co #2 is an especially wild ride, and I've only done it once, but the drop is incredible, sometimes like a logging flume.... |
