Through the long summer days at Sand Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's, and throughout       the dark hours in the wintertime at Sand Lake temperatures plunge to the-10's. The yearly rain here at Sand Lake is about average; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain; February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Kelly Trail is always a great adventure; dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Ely Minnesota. There are some perfect whitewater spots on Stony River, and you'll stumble on a pretty lake                  called Bonga Lake.
