Road Lake is a nice lake to visit. Camping at Gateway-hungry Jack Lodge is always a perfect experience, and on a fine day you can take a hike along the Stairway Portage. Through the months of summer at Road Lake highs are frequently in the 70's, and the overnight is slightly chillier of course, commonly in the 50's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 10's, and night lows at Road Lake during the winter frequently descend into the-10's.

| | This is a good area for folks who like lakes. Pewee Lake is a lake in close proximity, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Devil Track River.
This lake is so wonderful. Be careful coming to Road Lake, you might not ever want to go back home again. A pleasant location to camp here at Road Lake is East Bearskin Campground, and close by you stumble on the Long Portage which is a nice hiking trail. A common amount | |

of rainfall falls here at Road Lake; the month with most of the rain is August; February is the month with the least moisture.
East Bay Suites is a nice place to get some rest, and there is a tremendous hiking trail nearby called
the South Lake Portage. This lake is so wonderful. Gotta ski! Lutsen is a nice site to do that, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Leo Lake. If you need a spot to stay Super 8 Motel - Grand
Marais is a wonderful choice; if you come at the right time of year, Cascade River offers some glorious whitewater.

Two Island Lake Campground
 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |

Echo is a nice lake to stop and drop a line when in the Schroeder tofte area. It is just up the road from Nine mile lake campground and has an easy to catch supply of small trout.
