Lake Rachel, Douglas County, Minnesota     User input for Lake Rachel, Douglas County, Minnesota: Minnesota Laker: Rachel is a nice little sping-fed lake. Great water clarity (10 feet or so) and minimal boat traffic, so it's really peaceful and serene out there. You'll find excellent northern fishing - very abundant. Walleyes are hard to come by, but every once in a while you'll get one. The public access is tough to use - not a lot of space to turn around or to park. The shoreline is heavily wooded and lightly to moderately developed. It doesn't really feel like a west-central MN lake...feels more ''up north''. Only a handful of people live out there full-time. Most are cabins that get weekend use. No resorts, although there used to be one on ''the island''. This lake rose several feet in the 80s due to heavy rains and so there are a few stands of flooded timber, but actually that helps provide structure for fish and their spawning. Anyway, if you're looking for peace and quiet, check out Lake Rachel. It's Douglas County's best kept secret. This lake is so wonderful. Andes Tower Hill is a nice local ski area, and this is a popular site for folks from Alexandria. This is a delightful area for people who like lakes. Mud Lake is a lake close at hand, and golf can be played at East Mill Nine Golf Course. Not       enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. Nearby lakes? Sure, Echo Lake is close to Lake Rachel. For the duration of the days of summer here at Lake Rachel, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's, and the nighttime is somewhat cooler of course, regularly in the 50's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 10's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Lake Rachel. A pleasant close by hotel is Country Inn & Suites By                  Carlson Alexandria, and if you came to camp Mill Lake Resort is a delightful spot to do that.
