This lake is one of the great places here in the Mesabi Range. All year is a tremendous time in the Mesabi Range if you have a thing about the outdoors. Hibbing Super 8 Motel is a good location to get some rest; get yourself into a kayak and hit Sturgeon River. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Mesabi Range. Prairie Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Stony Brook Campground is a magnificent       local campground. This lake is so wonderful. There's great hiking along the Link Lake Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, Little Fork River offers some good whitewater. You think that's enough? Just getting warmed up. You'll hit upon a scenic lake called O' Learty Lake near Prairie Lake, and camping at Thistledew Campground is always a great experience. Prairie Lake gets a common amount of rain; the wettest month of the year is regularly June,                  that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February.
