     If you need a spot to stay Garrison Inn and Suites is a fine choice, and not far from Portage Lake you'll stumble on Erickson Lake which is a wonderful lake. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Portage Lake; Switzerland Trail is a nice local trail, and after a long day outdoors Ruttgers Bay Lake Lodge is a good location to spend a night or two. Portage Lake gets a normal amount of yearly rain; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily June, that's the  
   one that rains the most, and February is the month with the least moisture. If you like the outdoors, you'll adore Portage Lake.
For the period of the days of summer here at Portage Lake, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Highs through the winter are usually in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Portage Lake are in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Camp Holiday is
 
               a nice local campground, and in close proximity to Portage Lake you locate a golf course called The Lakes Golf Course. Sissebagamah RV Resort is a perfect campground nearby; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at nearby Lake Ann.
