     Pike River Lake is always a pleasure to visit. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Mesabi Range. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Vermilion River; don't leave Pike River Lake without first paying a visit to Pike River Falls. If you want a great time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Pike River Lake. If you need a site to stay Lodge At Giants  
   Ridge is a great choice, and what would winter be without some skiing at Giants Ridge. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Pike River Lake. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 40's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 10's while Pike River Lake night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the-20's.

               most rain around here, and February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Americinn - Mt Iron, Mn is a tremendous spot to get some rest. The Mesabi Range scenery is always beautiful.
If you get bored of Pike River Lake, you could also go to nearby Lost Lake, and do explore Pike River since you're here at Pike River Lake. That right there is loads of enjoyable stuff already but it goes on, the Mesabi Range has it all. Don't leave Pike River Lake without first going for a hike along the Canfield Portage, and Fortune Bay Resort - Casino - RV Park is a magnificent local campground. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can stop at Pike River Dam, and Pike River Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Hoodoo Point Campground is a great place to camp nearby.
This lake is so wonderful. Pike River Flowage is a nearby lake that you could pop by, and there's great hiking along the Taconite Trail.

...surprise to have the biggest bluegill hooked I've ever caught in my life. After measuring the brilliant, blue and purple colored gill I recorded that it was 11 inches long. The fight the gill gave was that of a good two pound black bass. The fish were spawning and I caught 8 more in that same bay that were all gigantic in size. The next trip to the lake was in 2007, and I still thought that maybe the gills I caught were maybe a ''fluke'' and there cant be that many in the lake. To my surprise the lake obviously had changed and we caught a entire fish basket of jumbo gills in less than three hours. The fish were spawning again (we went the same week) and every gill even the smallest one was a jumbo gill. My father mounted one gill that was 12 in long and weighed in at just over 1.75 pounds. Not bad for a lake that 30 years ago didnt really have native panfish. Also, the crappies are gigantic.
