    Go to Pfeiffer Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is located in the wonderful Mesabi Range. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff at Pfeiffer Lake. Get your heart pumping on the nice whitewater of Vermilion River, and Americinn - Mt Iron, Mn is a splendid place to get some rest.
This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Hinsdale Island Campground while you're here at Pfeiffer Lake,
 
   and perhaps you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Little Rice Lake is just a very short distance away. Whohoo, so much amusing stuff in one place! The Mesabi Range is great! While you're here at Pfeiffer Lake you will meet lots of people from close by Duluth; after a long day outdoors Budget Host Virginia is a tremendous location to spend a night or two. At Pfeiffer Lake throughout the summer months highs are in the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's.  
               The wintertime comes with highs in the 10's with temperatures at Pfeiffer Lake dipping down into the-10's throughout winter nights.
On a wonderful day at Pfeiffer Lake you can take a hike along the Canfield Portage, and a magnificent place to camp here at Pfeiffer Lake is Pfeifer Lake Campground. There's whitewater on Vermilion River for all you adrenaline people, needless to say you could also go to Big Rice Lake while you're here; it's not far at all. Pfeiffer Lake gets a typical amount of yearly rainfall; June is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Now, you may believe that's a load but there's even more exciting things to do here in the Mesabi Range. While you're here at Pfeiffer Lake you can take a hike along the Taconite Trail; Giants Ridge is a delightful local ski area.

...mpground. Echo lake is fabulous for jumbo bluegill and the colors of these fish are remarkable. Back in the late seventies when my father stayed at spring bay resort, my father caught the 13th bluegill ever reprted to be taken out of the lake. Al Johnson, owner of the resort at that time kept a notebook of any bluegills/sunfish ever caught due to the fact that the species was not native. The first time I went to this lake was back in 2000. I casted my nightcrawler harness out and slowly reeled my bait and felt a nice tug, thinking I had a bass on I came to the surprise to have the biggest bluegill hooked I've ever caught in my life. After measuring the brilliant, blue and purple colored gill I recorded that it was 11 inches long. The fight the gill gave was that of a good two pound black bass. The fish were spawning and I caught 8 more in that same bay that were all gigantic in size. The next trip to the lake was in 2007, and I still thought that maybe the gills I caught were maybe a ''fluke'' and there cant be that many in the lake.
