     Man, is there a heap of exciting stuff to do next to Pfeiffer Lake. Pfeiffer Lake is right by the Canfield Portage, and why not camp at Hinsdale Island Campground since you're here at Pfeiffer Lake. Pfeiffer Lake is one of the lakes here in the Mesabi Range. For the duration of the warm months here at Pfeiffer Lake, high temperatures mostly reach the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are commonly in  
   the 10's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Pfeiffer Lake.
Be careful coming to the Mesabi Range, you might not ever wanna return back home again. You're sure to run into some wonderful people from Duluth here, and after a long day outdoors Budget Host Virginia is a pleasant location to spend a night or two. From a rainfall point of view Pfeiffer Lake is a rather normal place; June is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is
 
               the driest month. Camping is available at Pfeifer Lake Campground; a tremendous close by hotel is Americinn - Mt Iron, Mn.
You can run the rapids of Vermilion River near Pfeiffer Lake, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Taconite Trail. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. A striking lake like Little Rice Lake next to Pfeiffer Lake is a wonderful place to pop by, and a brilliant place for whitewater paddling is Vermilion River.
Yeah, come up here to the Mesabi Range for a great time. Lakes are such calm locations, why not stop at Big Rice Lake in the vicinity of Pfeiffer Lake, and you can never get enough of the good skiing at Giants Ridge.

... that was 12 in long and weighed in at just over 1.75 pounds. Not bad for a lake that 30 years ago didnt really have native panfish. Also, the crappies are gigantic. Many people are starting to catch on to this and the populations of this fish I believe are declining. Back when my father first started fishing this lake walleyes and northern were caught in the dozens every day. But, they werent trophy fish but it was fun catching a stringer everyday. Now the lake is producing the same ''hammerhandle'' pike and ''dinner'' size walleye as the past as well as many trophies of both species. I believe the bluegills that research states accidently got into the lake are providing much more feed for this lake. But the funny thing is the gills are getting big too. So i think to my self, what is the true feeder fish? Every lake has a true feeder fish that never really gets big right? Well that fish is the perch unfortunatly. Back in the 70's the lake had jumbo perch, they were hard to find, you only caught a couple but they made anything out of lake michigan look like a minnow. I did catch one ...
