Buena Vista has good slopes and a friendly staff, and dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express BEMIDJI. Good hiking is available along the Meadow Lake Trail System, and lots of folks from Bemidji come here. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Americinn - Bemidji, Mn is a tremendous spot to spend a night or two; Castle Highlands Golf Course is a wonderful golf course close by. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Peterson

Hiking is a popular thing to do around Peterson Lake; Webster Lake Trail System is a pleasant local trail; you can stay the night at Hamilton's Fox Lake Campground. Peterson Lake gets very little precipitation; most of the rain falls through
July, and February is the month with the least moisture. Don't leave Peterson Lake without first going for a hike along the Carter Lake Trail, and a beautiful lake like Long Slough Lake is a nice place to stop at.

A pair of loons nest in the narrows, and 8 pair of Canadian Gesse nest in the wetland on the west side of the upper lake, raising aproximently 30 young each year. The Beavor and Otters are also in heaven on this lake. It has good fishing for Northern, Bass, Blue Gills , and Crappies.
