There's whitewater on Vermilion River for all you adrenaline rush seekers, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Welch Village. Not far from North Lake, you'll find Lower Rattling Springs Lake which is a beautiful lake, and as expected Big River is a beautiful stream that is worth a visit. North Lake is in the neighborhood of Morgan Coulee which is definitely worth stopping at; Country Inn &       Suites By Carlson, Red Wing, MN is a great spot to get some rest. So many exciting things to do at North Lake, so little time. Don't leave North Lake without first paying a visit to Rattling Springs, and you can stay the night at Greenwood Campground. This lake is so wonderful. At North Lake you always meet someone from Red Wing, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by close by Twin Lakes. This lake is so wonderful. North                  Lake is a nice site to visit for more than one day, Hidden Valley Campgrounds is a nice site to camp nearby, and the snow is great at Afton Alps. All through the days of summer highs here at North Lake get into the 80's, and the overnight is a bit chillier of course, generally in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the winter at North Lake temperatures sink to the 0's. The annual rain here at North Lake is about average; through July this area sees the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
