Many people like to go to Nisula Lake. Nisula Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Kimball Lake Campground is a great local campground, and the Lesser Cherry Portage offers hiking at its best. Summertime highs at Nisula Lake usually tend to be in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's; all through the dark hours in the winter at Nisula Lake temperatures descend to

| | the 0's. East Bay Suites is a pleasant location to get some rest; Devilfish Lake is a nearby lake that you could pop by.
You can run the rapids of Brule River near Nisula Lake, and don't leave Nisula Lake without first going for a hike along the Great Cherry Portage. Nisula Lake gets a common amount of precipitation; through September this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

A pleasant close by hotel is Best Western Superior Inn And Suites, and a lake nearby is Highlander Lake. Be careful coming to Nisula Lake, you might not ever want to return back home again. Camping at Go-fer Cabins Trailer Court is always a perfect experience, and there's perfect hiking along the Vaseux Portage.

Trout Lake
 | Trout Lake approx 14 Northwest of Grand Marais,MN and then 4 miles east on #140 (Trout Lake Road)to the lake. Mink and Kimball lakes are also accessed by this road. BOATERS BEWARE - the public landing is a ''carry in landing'' meaning no trailered launches here. If you prefer you can launch at Trout Lake Resort for a fee of $5 to $10 but their landing is shallow as well and very rocky. NO BIG BOATS can get in and that's the way the folks at the resort like it. A boat with a ten h.p. will do the trick. In fact the folks at Trout Lake Resort will rent you one if they are not reserved by the resort guests for ~$35 for 1/2 day. The like is super clear and boasts lake trout and rainbows. We caught one rainbow on a lazy fishing/swimming expedition and another boat on the lake caught a small laker and one rainbow. This lake would be real fun for trout in the spring when they are near the surface but they can be found by trolling in 20 to 30' along the shore lines in late summer as well as the deeper spots.... |
