There's whitewater on Cascade River for all you thrill seekers; do take a hike on the South Lake Portage. High temperatures at Nighthawk Lake all through the summer months are in the 70's, and the overnight is fairly cooler of course, regularly in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Nighthawk Lake are in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. | | Jack Lodge is a perfect local campground. From a precipitation point of view Nighthawk Lake is a relatively typical place; most of the rain falls during August, and February meanwhile is the driest month.

Two Island Lake Campground
 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
