     Camping is available at Pine River Campground, and after a long day outdoors Americinn - Cloquet, Mn is a pleasant site to spend a night or two. Nichols Lake is pretty waterless ordinarily; the month with most of the rain is June while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Nichols Lake beyond doubt is in the middle of a stunning outdoors paradise. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at close by Moose  
   Lake. Summertime highs at Nichols Lake ordinarily tend to be in the 70's while night lows are usually in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Nichols Lake are in the-10's.
This is a pleasant region for people who like lakes. Lake Williams is a lake in close proximity; a good place to camp here at Nichols Lake is Ico Campground. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend
 
               Cloquet River, and a great nearby hotel is Super 8 Eveleth. This lake is so wonderful. There are some nice whitewater spots on St. Louis River, and there are plenty of people from Duluth here at Nichols Lake.

The river is at least 100 miles long. I've paddled from Katherine Lake to the St. Louis River and there is plenty of river to paddle besides the section from US 53 to US 2. The top section, from Katherine Lake to Lake Co #2 is an especially wild ride, and I've only done it once, but the drop is incredible, sometimes like a logging flume....
