A picturesque lake like Brewer Lake near Nelson Lake is a nice place to visit, and swamps can be such exciting places, stop at Indian Slough while you're here at Nelson Lake. You can never get enough of the tremendous skiing at Afton Alps. Nelson Lake gets a normal amount of rainfall; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.       For the period of the warm days of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Nelson Lake. All through the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 60's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Nelson Lake drop into the 0's. You assume that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Skiing at Welch Village is one of those things you just must do, and camping at Nelson Lake is great fun,                  Hidden Valley Campgrounds is a great local campground. Looking for some flowing water? Try Vermillion River, and Vermilion River is a splendid whitewater spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of folks from Red Wing here, and after a long day outdoors Red Wing Super 8 Motel is a nice place to spend a night or two.
