It's always fun to stop by Mucker Lake. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff at Mucker Lake. Whitewater paddling is brilliant on Cascade River, and going for a hike along the Stairway Portage will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. You could also visit Hoat Lake while you're here at Mucker Lake; it's close by; hiking along the South Lake Portage is perfect fun. Looking for something right next door to Mucker

The yearly rain here at Mucker Lake is about average; August is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Camping at East Bearskin Campground is always a magnificent experience, and Super 8 Motel - Grand Marais is a nice site to get some rest. Summertime highs at Mucker Lake usually tend to be in the 70's, and the overnight is slightly chillier of course, frequently in the 50's. | |

For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 10's; through the dark hours in the winter at Mucker Lake temperatures dip to the-10's.
Dry warm beds await you at East Bay Suites, and if you came to camp Gateway-hungry
Jack Lodge is a fine site to do that. This lake is so wonderful. Have a delightful hiking adventure along the Height of Land Portage; get covered with water paddling on Cascade River.

I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
