Why not camp at East Bearskin Campground if you're here at Mucker Lake, and there are some wonderful whitewater spots on Cascade River. A scenic lake like North Lake in the vicinity of Mucker Lake is a tremendous place to pop by. Man, is there lots of cool stuff to do in the vicinity of Mucker Lake. Cascade River. This lake is so wonderful. There is a splendid hiking trail next to Mucker Lake called the South Lake Portage, and Hoat Lake is a great lake nearby.
All through the warm days of summer here at Mucker Lake, high
temperatures usually get into the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 10's, and overnight lows at Mucker Lake through the winter generally drop into the-10's.

I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
