East Bearskin Campground is a splendid local campground; after a long day outdoors Best Western Superior Inn & Suites is a brilliant site to spend a night or two. Looking for something right next door to Mirage Lake? Bronco Lake is in close proximity, and why not camp at Kimball Lake Campground while you're here at Mirage Lake. This lake is so wonderful. On a good day at Mirage Lake you can take a hike along the Lesser Cherry Portage, and get dripping wet

| | paddling on Brule River. From a rainfall point of view Mirage Lake is a reasonably common site; August is the wettest month with most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
This is no spot for people who don’t like to have a good time. If you're here at Mirage Lake, you could take a look at Puff Creek; glide down the rapids of Kadunce River in a kayak. There is a great hiking trail near Mirage Lake called the Vaseux Portage, and dry warm beds | |

await you at East Bay Suites. This lake is so wonderful. Grand Portage National Monument is a very pleasant location to have a look at in the vicinity of Mirage Lake.
Going for a hike on the Great Cherry Portage is always a good
adventure, naturally you could also stop at Tittle Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Mirage Lake. Summer night lows descend down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 10's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Mirage Lake.

Trout Lake
 | Trout Lake approx 14 Northwest of Grand Marais,MN and then 4 miles east on #140 (Trout Lake Road)to the lake. Mink and Kimball lakes are also accessed by this road. BOATERS BEWARE - the public landing is a ''carry in landing'' meaning no trailered launches here. If you prefer you can launch at Trout Lake Resort for a fee of $5 to $10 but their landing is shallow as well and very rocky. NO BIG BOATS can get in and that's the way the folks at the resort like it. A boat with a ten h.p. will do the trick. In fact the folks at Trout Lake Resort will rent you one if they are not reserved by the resort guests for ~$35 for 1/2 day. The like is super clear and boasts lake trout and rainbows. We caught one rainbow on a lazy fishing/swimming expedition and another boat on the lake caught a small laker and one rainbow. This lake would be real fun for trout in the spring when they are near the surface but they can be found by trolling in 20 to 30' along the shore lines in late summer as well as the deeper spots.... |
