    If you are in Cass county it's always a good idea to stop by McKeown Lake. While you're here at McKeown Lake you will meet lots of people from nearby Brainerd. McKeown Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Deer Acres is a good local campground, and Bungey Bay is close by and always great to check out. McKeown Lake is not the only place nearby, Barrow Lake is a nearby lake, and camping at Austin's Swamp is always a good experience.

   a good time in the great outdoors, just come on down to McKeown Lake. A fine nearby hotel is Trappers Landing Lodge, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the North Country Trail. The amount of rain that falls at McKeown Lake is close to the national average; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily June, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February. At McKeown Lake throughout the summertime months highs are in the  
               70's. Summer night lows drop down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are regularly in the 10's, and overnight lows during the winter for McKeown Lake tend to be in the-10's.
Looking for something in the neighborhood of McKeown Lake? Barnum Lake is in close proximity, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Goose Lake Trail System. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Rodeway Inn Pine River is a tremendous location to spend a night or two, and on a pleasant day you can take a hike along the Lake Erin Trail.

...is one of our favorite Minnesota campgrounds and we stay here several times each summer. We love that it is right on a lake and that many of the sites have their own little beach. The campground is quiet and the sites˙ are screened from one another for privacy. I hate to even post a review out of the fear that our favorite camping secret will become everyone's camping favorite. It is close enough to Longville˙ and Remer that you can run in for ice and supplies as needed. One small hint that I will pass on is that you might want to stop in Longville or Hackensack to buy your˙ firewood as the campground does not have any for sale.Mabel Lake campground is not on a campsite reservation system but we have never had a problem finding a site here. We discovered this campground as a result of finding one of the more popular Leech Lake campgrounds full. Once we found Mabel Lake, we never bothered with the other campgrounds in the area again. Mabel Lake is rustic so those seeking hook-ups, flush toilets, and running water best move on to the more crowded campgrounds on Leech Lake and leave us ...
