Holland Lake is a lake nearby; Mississippi National River & Recreation Area is a good place close by. But wait, there's more to do near McDonough Lake. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at nearby O'Brien Lake, and the cheerful folks of Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington like to hang out nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's       for you then we recommend Vermilion River, and the slopes of Buck Hill are so inviting noone can resist. This lake is so wonderful. McDonough Lake gets a normal amount of annual rainfall; the month with most of the rain is June, and the driest month is February. If you came to camp J Robinson Intensive Camps is a glorious place to do that; what would winter be without some skiing at Hyland Ski. During the long summer days at McDonough Lake highs are generally                  in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 20's while the cold winter nights at McDonough Lake are in the 0's. A great nearby hotel is Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Eagan, MN, and camping at Northernaire Motel is always a great experience.
