If you come at the right time of year, Cascade River offers some great whitewater. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Mayhew Lake has to offer, you can camp at Gateway-hungry Jack Lodge. You feel that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Have a magnificent hiking adventure along the South Lake Portage; Cascade Lodge is a fine location to get some rest. There's so much to do       here at Mayhew Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Cascade River Campground is a great place for that; Mayhew Lake is not the only spot close by, East Pope Lake is a close by lake. This lake is so wonderful. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Mayhew Lake; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are mostly in the 10's, and nighttime lows at Mayhew Lake through the winter usually plunge into                  the-10's. Head up to Lutsen and strap some skis to your feet, and hiking along the Height of Land Portage is splendid fun. Soar down the rapids of Cascade River in a kayak, and dry warm beds await you at Solbakken Resort. This lake is so wonderful. Don't forget to stop by Frances Bay while you're here at Mayhew Lake; going for a hike along the Stairway Portage will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region.
