Lum Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. The South Lake Portage is a great hiking trail close to Lum Lake, and lovely scenery and great skiing is what you acquire at Lutsen. This location is so good, just look at all the fun stuff to do near Lum Lake. If you need a spot to stay Caribou Highlands Lodge is a wonderful choice; on a splendid day you can take a hike along the Height of Land Portage. Summertime at Lum Lake comes with

| | high temperatures in the 70's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 10's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Lum Lake.

The amount of precipitation that falls at Lum Lake is close to the national average; August is the wettest month with most
rain while February is ordinarily the driest month. While you're here at Lum Lake, you could also explore beautiful Little Rush Lake, and why not camp at Gateway-hungry Jack Lodge since you're here at Lum Lake. Cascade River Campground is a wonderful local campground, and a good location for whitewater paddling is Cascade River.

I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
