Why not stop by Lost Lake if you're passing through these parts. Hit the slopes at Spirit Mountain around here, and if you came to camp Knife Island Campground is a glorious site to do that. A good nearby hotel is Americinn - Duluth/Proctor, Mn; Forbay Lake is a nearby lake that you could go to. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Midway River for all you adrenaline people, and Pine Hill Golf Course is a splendid golf course nearby. There are some tremendous

| | whitewater spots on St. Louis River. There's so much to do here at Lost Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Buffalo Valley Camping is a great place for that. If you get bored of Lost Lake, you could also have a look at close by Thomson Reservoir, and after a long day outdoors Country Inn And Suites By Carlson Duluth-South is a good site to spend a night or two. of the water close by flows, like Gill Creek; Oldenburg Point is an interesting thing to catch a glimpse of if you're here. This lake is so wonderful. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Lost Lake; through summer nights temperatures
are in the 50's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Lost Lake are in the-10's. From a rain point of view Lost Lake is a relatively normal place; June is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is February.

 | 16 miles away Eagle's Nest Resort doesn't have any campsites for rent but they do have nice cabins instead....This is great publicity but I am wondering how this information was put on the internet. We are always listed as a resort with cabin rentals. our 7 site seasonal campground that has not had an opening for several years, so it is never listed under campgrounds. Cloquet River
 | 17 miles away The river is at least 100 miles long. I've paddled from Katherine Lake to the St. Louis River and there is plenty of river to paddle besides the section from US 53 to US 2. The top section, from Katherine Lake to Lake Co #2 is an especially wild ride, and I've only done it once, but the drop is incredible, sometimes like a logging flume.... |
