The snow is wonderful at Giants Ridge, and do take a look at Oriniack Lake, it's a gorgeous lake. A wonderful lake like Lake Alf in close proximity to Lake Lon is a wonderful site to check out, and there is a great hiking trail close by called the Taconite Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Vermilion River has a magnificent whitewater paddling spot nearby, and if the weather is magnificent, you can go for a hike along the Canfield Portage. All through the days

| | of summer at Lake Lon temperatures are mostly in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. Highs through the wintertime are commonly in the 10's; during the dark hours in the winter at Lake Lon temperatures dip to the-20's. If you need a place to stay Elbow Lake Lodge is a delightful choice. There's so much to do here at Lake Lon that you need to camp here for a while, Hinsdale Island Campground is a great place | |

for that. Lake Lon gets a common amount of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is frequently June, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest. So many entertaining things to do at Lake Lon, so
little time. Lake Lon is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Lake Jeanette Campground is a splendid local campground; the Beatty Portage is a brilliant hiking trail close by.

Echo Lake
 | ...ent were the spring bay cabins which are not in service but still standing to date. Now there are two resorts on the lake and a public campground. Echo lake is fabulous for jumbo bluegill and the colors of these fish are remarkable. Back in the late seventies when my father stayed at spring bay resort, my father caught the 13th bluegill ever reprted to be taken out of the lake. Al Johnson, owner of the resort at that time kept a notebook of any bluegills/sunfish ever caught due to the fact that the species was not native. The first time I went to this lake was back in 2000. I casted my nightcrawler harness out and slowly reeled my bait and felt a nice tug, thinking I had a bass on I came to the surprise to have the biggest bluegill hooked I've ever caught in my life. After measuring the brilliant, blue and purple colored gill I recorded that it was 11 inches long. The fight the gill gave was that of a good two pound black bass.
