Why not take a refreshing hike along the Height of Land Portage, and if you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cascade River. Cascade River Campground is a good campground nearby, and you're probably interested in lakes, One Island Lake is one of those close by. This lake is so wonderful. is so wonderful. A day on the slopes of Lutsen is just what you need; hiking along the Stairway Portage is perfect fun. Little Rush Lake is right by the South Lake Portage, and after a long day outdoors The Mountain Inn is a glorious site to spend a night or two.

Two Island Lake Campground
 | 12 miles away I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
